Travel Nursing Colorado

Close your eyes and imagine the state of Colorado. Can you smell the crisp mountain air? Picture the snow-powdered slopes, sweeping plains and flourishing forests? Few states can boast that it’s just as beautiful in reality as it is in theory. Colorado, meaning “color red,” is named after the brownish-reddish color of the Colorado River, which runs through the north-western region of the state. Known primarily for its innate beauty, Colorado hosts thousands of snow-enthusiasts each year to one of its many ski resorts, including Aspen, Vail and Steamboat Springs.

But the state is about more than just wintry fun. There are 11 National Parks within Colorado’s borders and, every summer, the city of Boulder puts on a Shakespeare Festival (celebrating its 50th season). The capital, Denver, is also the state’s largest city and contains more than half of the state’s total population. For all football fans, Denver is also home to the two-time Super Bowl champions, the Broncos.

Colorado Travel Nurse Photos and Stories

Rafting on the Animas River

  • Rhonda D, RN
  • Durango, Colorado

My adventure to Durango, Colorado, while on assignment in Albuquerque, NM began with whitewater rafting on the lower Animas River May 20, 2007. The river is snow melt and quite chilly with temperatures in the 30's during the month of May.

Rock Climbing in the Garden of the Gods

  • Martine R, RN
  • Colorado Springs, Colorado

While on assignment, I visited the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. Despite warnings, everyone climbed the rocks there. In the picture I'm "Carrying" the boulder on my shoulder. Colorado Springs is a beautiful place and Garden of the Gods is just plain awesome... no wonder they called it "Garden of The Gods", as only God could have created something that beautiful!

Up to Our Knees in Snow

  • Martine R, RN
  • Colorado Springs, Colorado

Pike's Peak is one of the highest places in the Rockies and the view is just plain marvelous. Taken on top of Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs, we were up to our knees in the snow, and it wasn't ice cold or anything. I wasn’t even wearing a coat. This picture is proof we got all the way up!

Starting a New Life Chapter in Colorado

  • Kelly B., RN
  • Breckenridge, Colorado

This photo was taken the weekend before I began my first traveling assignment in Breckenridge, Colorado. It’s one of my favorites, because it reminds me of the decision I made to leave the comfort of my first nursing job after college and become a traveling nurse. I really didn't know what to expect, but I knew I was having fun so far. This was my first time snowboarding at such a high altitude. I remember feeling dizzy, but excited about living in Colorado and starting a new chapter in my life.
